Our people

Nick joined Capita in July 2002 as Divisional Finance Director of Capita’s Business Services Division. He is now Senior Divisional Finance Director for Capita’s private sector companies, with specific responsibility for the Financial Services and Insurance & Specialist Services divisions.  Nick is a chartered accountant with over 20 years’ experience in the industry, where he has held a number of roles, including Commercial Director, and has been responsible for running operations. Having begun his career at Grant Thornton, Nick moved on to join Unipart.  He subsequently worked for a number of large Plc’s including RAC Plc and Misys Plc.  Immediately before joining Capita, Nick was Commercial Director of the Phoenix IT Group.

Prior to establishing BDML, Sandy gained his experience in the insurance industry, having established Eagle Star’s direct operation in 1988/89 before launching Touchline Insurance in 1993, where he was MD.  He was also director of the GAN Group from 1992 to 1998 and was MD of Rossborough Insurance Services from 1993 to 1998.  Sandy has held a number of senior positions on industry bodies such as the CII and ABI and is a Chartered Insurance Broker. He joined Capita following the acquisition of BDML in 2005.

Responsible for Capita's Insurance Distribution business in the Personal Lines and SME market places.  Mark joined BDML at the beginning of 2004 and managed its integration into Capita following acquisition in 2005.  Before joining Capita, Mark held positions within Norwich Union and HSBC and leads a team with extensive insurance experience in a range of market sectors.

Tony is responsible for managing and developing Capita Specialist Insurance Solutions Ltd. Tony joined Capita in 2004, having previously worked as an independent business consultant specialising in the Waste Management and Recycling Industry. Prior to this he was a director at Computer People.

Andrew has recently been appointed Managing Director of our partnership with Marsh, responsible for operations providing support and processing services to enhance Marsh’s broking activities to clients across its multinational business. Marsh’s UK operations are based in Norwich with some services delivered by Capita’s offshore facility in Pune. The operation has approximately 600 staff across both sites.

In 2009 Andrew was appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Capita Insurance Distribution, overseeing all aspects of operations, IT, programme, HR, training and management information. Capita Insurance Distribution is the fifth largest UK personal lines insurance intermediary and third party administrator specialising in personal lines solutions for affinity clients. It employs over 800 staff (based in Portsmouth, Colchester, Romford, Andover and St Ives in Cambridge) and administers around £200m of personal lines gross written insurance premium.

Prior to this Andrew has been responsible for a number of major contracts within Capita Insurance Services. This included his appointment as Managing Director of the Coal Health Contract in 2007 with responsibility for administering the coal health compensation schemes, the biggest personal injury schemes in British legal history. This involved the TUPE transfer of approximately 1,250 staff to Capita, and the immediate instigation of a business improvement programme. The programme introduced improvements across a number of key areas including reengineered processes, increases in productivity, greater strategic planning and enhanced IT provision culminating in delivery of the schemes to completion and significant reductions in resources/costs.

Andrew joined Capita as Programme Director in 2005 and has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services, with fifteen years’ programme management exposure. He has particular expertise in delivering complex business change programmes, which have included contact centre operations, financial regulation, claims management and offshoring.  Before joining Capita, Andrew held a number of positions with Abbey, most recently that of Programme Director, Insurance and Banking and Head of Personal Finance Operations.

Derek joined Capita’s Commercial BPO Division in January 2006 to review and transform its commercial practices, Derek then went onto lead a group of businesses within Capita’s personal lines business.  Derek is now Executive Director for Capita Commercial Insurance Services.  Derek’s key responsibilities within this role include leading business development and client relationships within the London Market insurance sector and developing Capita’s insurance business in continental Europe and Australia.

 

Prior to joining Capita Derek worked for leading motoring company RAC for nine years.  Derek had a variety of roles at the RAC which culminated in him leading the integration activity across the RAC after their acquisition by Aviva.
