Capita Insurance Distribution strengthens team with two key appointments

Capita Insurance Distribution today announces two new appointments which strengthen its senior management team and will facilitate further development of the business.

22/09/2009

Andrew Beer has been appointed chief operating officer (COO), overseeing all aspects of operations, IT and management information. Joining at the same time as Andrew and working closely with him to implement the business’ strategy is Stuart Anderson who takes on the role of sales and marketing director.

Andrew and Stuart’s roles are key to the future success of the business and in maintaining its position as a competitive player in the insurance market. Andrew and Stuart’s focus will initially be on encouraging further growth of the business’ core of private car and household policies, complemented by a range of “niche” products including pet, classic car and motorbike.

As COO, Andrew will manage the day-to-day operations of Capita Insurance Distribution ensuring the key business aims are communicated to employees who all play a part in the company’s success. He will also lead the way in exploring further opportunities within the market. Andrew has worked at Capita since 2005 and has held a number of roles including managing director of Insurance Services BPO. He also has experience of bid work, working closely with Capita Group's central sales team. Prior to joining Capita, Andrew held senior roles within Abbey's home and motor insurance business, including head of personal finance operations, and programme director – insurance & banking.

Sales and marketing director, Stuart Anderson will work to maintain regular communication with existing customers and complement Andrew’s role by leading the sales team in exploring new avenues for the business. He will also be tasked with delivering sustainable direct marketing activity, ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed of services and new developments. Stuart has nearly 20 years’ experience, working most recently for Homeserve Emergency Services as strategic development director.

Mark Townsend, director of Capita Insurance Distribution, commented on the appointments: “We are excited to welcome these two new experienced and competent individuals to our distribution business and I wish them all the best in their roles. These appointments reflect the size and complexity of the business, especially following the recent acquisitions of Hero and Lancaster. Capita Insurance Distribution is making good progress in what is a challenging time economically and I believe this senior management team will facilitate further growth and value.”

Following the acquisition of BDML in 2005, Lancaster Insurance Services in 2008 and Hero Insurance Services in 2009, Capita Insurance Distribution is the fifth largest UK personal lines insurance intermediary. It has 880,000 policies in force and employs over 800 staff members across the UK.
